Alabama Men’s Tennis Travels to State of Oklahoma for Pair of Road Matches

Crimson Tide set to take on Oklahoma State on Friday night at 5 p.m. CT
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team will travel to the state of Oklahoma this weekend for a pair of road matches. The Crimson Tide (5-2) begins the week in Stillwater, Okla., on Friday to take on 12th-ranked Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. CT, before traveling to Norman, Okla., on Sunday to face 14th-ranked Oklahoma at 1 p.m. CT.
When Alabama and Oklahoma State face each other Friday, it will mark the fifth meeting between the two programs, as the Cowboys hold a 4-0 advantage in the series. The last time the two teams competed against each other was during the 2016 season, as the Cowboys won a 4-0 decision. Oklahoma State won a 4-3 thriller in its lone match last weekend against North Carolina State. The Cowboys currently have an undefeated record at 5-0, and they have three singles players and two doubles teams that are nationally-ranked.
Sunday's match against Oklahoma marks the eighth meeting between the two programs, as the Sooners hold a 3-4 series lead. The last time the two teams faced each other was during the 2016 season, as the Sooners won a 5-2 decision. The last win the Tide had against Oklahoma was during the 2008 campaign, as it blanked the Sooners, 4-0. Oklahoma defeated Arkansas, 5-2, in its solo contest last weekend. The Sooners currently have an overall record at 5-1, and they have three singles players and two doubles teams that are nationally-ranked.
Last week, Alabama defeated Texas Tech, 4-3, before topping Clemson in a 5-2 decision.
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the second set of singles and doubles rankings earlier this week, which featured two Alabama players in the singles ranks. Freshman Thibault Cancel and sophomore Mazen Osama earned No. 82 and No. 92 singles rankings, respectively, as released by the ITA on Feb. 8.
