No. 6 Alabama Gymnastics Hosts No. 17 Auburn on Alumni Night

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 6-ranked Alabama gymnastics team takes on No. 17 Auburn this Friday at 7:30 p.m. CT, in Coleman Coliseum. It will be the Crimson Tide's third home meet and eighth meet overall of the season. It will also mark the second meeting of the season between the two teams.
"Some of the details we've focused on this week are process oriented," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "Being present is key. We tell the ladies all the time, don't worry about being perfect, stay present and let the result take care of itself."
Alabama and Auburn met in Birmingham's Elevate the Stage meet earlier this season with the Tide coming out on top 195.850-194.675. The two teams last faced off in Tuscaloosa on Feb. 6, 2015 with Alabama beating the Tigers, 197.325-196.825.
Coming into Friday's meet, Alabama has posted four scores of 197-plus this season, including the last two meets in a row, a season-best 197.825 in Coleman Coliseum against Florida and a 197.050 in Lexington, Ky., against Kentucky.
As part of Alabama's Alumni Night festivities, more than 50 former UA gymnasts and their families slated to return to Coleman Coliseum. Former gymnasts, coaches and staffers will be introduced prior to the meet. Â
In addition, the Alabama coaches and staff will be wearing clothing that incorporates the official UA Tartan "We are Crimson" while the gymnasts will be wearing t-shirts for warmups featuring the Tartan. Feb 13-17 is Tartan Week on campus. "We are Crimson" was created by UA's College of Human Environmental Sciences led by Dean Milla Boschung
As part of Duckworth's ReadBAMARead literacy initiative, the West Alabama elementary school that has the most students, teachers and staff sign in at the ReadBAMARead table on the concourse of the Coliseum during the Alabama-Auburn meet will have a chance to win $1,000 worth of books for their school library, which will be awarded at the Tide's meet against Boise State.
