Former Crimson Tide standouts provide strong efforts on both sides of the ball in week 15
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 15th week of the 2017-18 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the League.
This season's Pro Bowl rosters were announced on Tuesday, with four former Crimson Tide players earning a spot on their respective conference's roster. The NFC representatives include Landon Collins, Mark Ingram and Julio Jones, while the lone AFC selection was C.J. Mosley.
Ingram came up big last Sunday, as the New Orleans Saints defeated the New York Jets, 31-19. The former Heisman Trophy winner rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns on just 12 carries, while adding five catches for 77 yards. With the effort, Ingram surpassed 1,000 yards on the ground for the second consecutive season, recording a career-high 1,045 yards through 15 weeks to rank sixth in the league. Ingram has also posted career-high marks in yards from scrimmage (1,420), touchdowns (11) and receptions (51) during the 2017-18 campaign.
Mosley put together a strong performance for the Baltimore defense in the Ravens' 27-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. The linebacker tallied six stops to tie for second on the Baltimore defense, while adding three pass breakups and a forced fumble to his totals. Mosley is currently tied for second in the league in solo tackles, with 86 entering week 16.
Kenyan Drake made his presence known for the Miami offense, tallying over 100 all-purpose yards as the Dolphins fell to the Buffalo Bills, 24-16. The second-year running back finished with 78 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while adding six receptions for 35 yards. Over the last three games, Drake has rushed for 312 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 104 yards per game over the three-week span.
Reuben Foster continued his impressive play, as the San Francisco 49ers won their third consecutive game with a 25-23 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The rookie linebacker posted eight tackles to tie for second on the defensive unit. Foster currently ranks second on the San Francisco defense in total tackles with 61 on the season despite playing in only eight games.
Rookie defensive back Eddie Jackson continued his steady play, posting a team-high eight tackles while adding a fumble recovery in a losing effort by the Chicago Bears against the Detroit Lions, 20-10. With his performance last Sunday, Jackson became the first rookie in five years to record 50 or more tackles, two or more interceptions and three or more fumble recoveries in a season since Luke Kuechly, the former Defensive Rookie of the Year, accomplished the feat in 2012.
