Former Alabama players excelling on both sides of the ball in week nine
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The ninth week of the 2017 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the week-nine highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL. Â
In his first full game of the season, rookie linebacker Reuben Foster posted an impressive performance, finishing with a career-high 14 tackles, including one tackle for loss, as the San Francisco 49ers fell to the Arizona Cardinals, 20-10. With the effort, Foster became the second NFL player to record more than 12 solo tackles in a game this season.
Kenyan Drake enjoyed a career day, tallying over 100 all-purpose yards as the Miami Dolphins fell to the Raiders, 27-24. The second-year running back notched career highs in rushing yards, receptions and receiving yards, as he finished with 69 yards on nine carries and added six catches for 35 yards. Drake busted out for a 42-yard run in the third quarter, Miami's longest offensive play of the season.
A trio of former Crimson Tide standouts met in New York, as Landon Collins, Dalvin Tomlinson and the Giants welcomed Mark Barron and the Los Angeles Rams. Collins finished with a team-high seven tackles, while Tomlinson contributed four stops in the Giants' 51-17 loss to the Rams.
Opposite of Collins and Tomlinson, Barron made his presence known, leading the Los Angeles defense with eight tackles to go along with a pass breakup. Barron currently ranks seventh in the league in solo tackles with 51 on the season.
C.J. Mosley provided another strong effort for the Baltimore defense, recording a team-high eight tackles, including half of a sack, in the Ravens' 23-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Mosley currently ranks second in the league in total tackles with 76 entering week 10.
In that same game between the Ravens and Titans, Derrick Henry notched his third rushing touchdown of the year. The Tennessee tailback finished with 26 yards and his score on eight carries, while adding a pair of catches for 10 yards in the Titan's win.
Julio Jones continued his impressive play, catching six passes for a team-high 118 yards as the Atlanta Falcons came up short against the Carolina Panthers, 20-17. Jones currently ranks third in the league in receiving yards per game, averaging 82.2 on the season.
