Julio Jones receives league-wide recognition for his standout performance in week 12
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 12th week of the 2017 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from former Crimson Tide players currently in the League. Â
Julio Jones enjoyed a career day, as the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 34-20, on his way to earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The award was Jones' fourth Player of the Week selection since the start of the 2015 season, which is the most by any wide receiver across that span.
The All-Pro Falcons' wideout finished with 12 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns, notching his third career game with at least 250 receiving yards, the most by any one player in NFL history; no other wideout has more than one 250-yard game in their career. With the effort, Jones surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the fourth consecutive season, as he sits at 1,039 yards in 2017 to rank second in the league.
Landon Collins matched his season high in tackles, finishing with 15, to lead the New York defense in a Giants loss to the Washington Redskins, 20-10. Collins currently leads the Giants in total tackles with 86 on the season.
Monday Night Football saw C.J. Mosley continue his impressive play, racking up a team-high 12 tackles as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Houston Texans, 23-16. Mosley currently ranks fifth in the league in total tackles with 95 entering week 13.
Reggie Ragland squared off with the team who originally drafted him before trading him earlier this season, as the Kansas City Chiefs squared off with the Buffalo Bills. Ragland once again led the Kansas City defense in tackles for the second consecutive week as the linebacker finished with a career-high tying nine stops in the Chiefs' 16-10 loss.
Dre Kirkpatrick provided a strong effort for the Cincinnati Bengals, tallying a season-high nine tackles to lead the team in the Bengals' 30-16 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Defensive lineman A'Shawn Robinson had a solid outing for the Detroit defense, posting six tackles, just one shy of his career high, with two of those going for a loss. Robinson also blocked an extra-point attempt in the Thanksgiving Day matchup as the Lions fell to the Minnesota Vikings, 30-27.
Rookie linebacker Reuben Foster continued his steady play for the San Francisco 49ers, finishing with six stops, including one for a loss, to rank second on the team in the 49ers' 24-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
