
Alabama Soccer Duo Named to NSCAA All-Southeast Region Teams

Celia Jimenez Delgado was tabbed to the second team while Emma Welch earned third team honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior defender Celia Jimenez Delgado and junior midfielder Emma Welch earned United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's All-Southeast Region honors after an outstanding 2017 campaign. Jimenez Delgado was named to the second team while Welch landed on the third team.
In her senior year, Jimenez Delgado played in 20 contests, making 18 starts on the year. The Alcaudete, Spain, native knocked in three goals and assisted on six scores to accumulate a total of 12 points. In her career at the Capstone, Jimenez Delgado amassed seven goals, two game-winning goals and eight assists for 22 points in 39 contests.
Welch saw action in every game this season and started in 19 matches. The multifaceted junior tallied two goals, led the team in assists (8) and totaled 12 points after 1594 minutes of action on the pitch. The McDonough, Ga., native ended the regular season ranked fourth in the conference in assists and 38th in the country in the same category. Furthermore, Welch is now the all-time leader in career assists at Alabama (19).
