Alabama Swimming and Diving Closes Georgia Tech Invitational with Multiple Wins

The Crimson Tide tallied four individual wins and a relay victory on the meet’s third and final day
ATLANTA – Alabama swimming and diving closed out the Georgia Tech Invitational, held at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. this weekend, with multiple wins.
The Crimson Tide opened the day with a 1-2 finish in the women's 1,650 freestyle. Senior Mia Nonnenberg picked up the win with a 16:23.62, while sophomore Alexis Preski was second at 16:27.89. Preski's time was a career best and ranks her fourth all-time at UA.
Alabama also went 1-2 in the men's 100 freestyle when junior Robert Howard and sophomore Zane Waddell stopped the clock at 41.96 and 42.68, respectively. Howard's time, a career best, ranks him second all-time at UA and makes him just the second Alabama swimmer under 42 seconds.
Senior Christopher Reid won the men's 200 backstroke after clocking a 1:41.74, while junior Justine Macfarlane won the women's 200 breaststroke with a career-best 2:09.58, which ranks her fourth all-time at UA.
Alabama closed out the meet by winning the men's 400 freestyle relay. Junior Laurent Bams, sophomore Zane Waddell, Reid and Howard clocked a 2:50.46 for the victory. With the win, the Tide men went a perfect five-for-five in relays over the weekend, and have won every relay race of the season.
