Alabama Finishes Second at Rain-Shortened Landfall Tradition

Inclement weather and course conditions forces cancellation of Sunday’s final round
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Alabama women's golf team finished second at The Landfall Tradition after heavy rain on Sunday morning forced the cancellation of the tournament's final round at the par-72, 6,166-yard Pete Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
At 13-under par for two rounds, Alabama (278-286/563) finished in second place, one shot behind tournament champion Duke (277-285/562), which finished at 14-under par. Michigan State (282-292/574) finished third at 2-under par. South Carolina (285-292/577) was fourth at 1-over par and Oklahoma State (294-286/580) was fifth at 4-over par.
Junior Lauren Stephenson (67-71/138) tied for third place at 6-under par, three shots off the lead. Sophomore Kristen Gillman (69-71/140) tied for fifth at 4-under par. Junior Cheyenne Knight (70-73/143) tied for 11th at 1-under par. Freshman Angelica Moresco (75-70/145) tied for 18th at 1-over par and senior Lakareber Abe (72-75/147) tied for 28th.
Senior Nicole Morales (73-76/149) played as an individual this weekend and tied for 39th at 5-over par.
The Landfall Tradition wraps up the fall portion of Alabama's schedule. The Tide posted four top-two finishes in its four tournaments, including a victory at the Schooner Fall Classic. As a team, UA shot a combined 99-under par in its four fall outings.
Individually, Lauren Stephenson and Kristen Gillman came away with individual medalist honors during fall competition. Stephenson shared the individual title at the Mason Rudolph Championship while Gillman won the Schooner Fall Classic.
Alabama will open the spring portion of its schedule at the Northrop-Grumman Regional Challenge, Feb. 11-13, at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
