TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Alabama men's and women's cross country teams will begin postseason competition this week with the 2017 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships at the University of Georgia Cross Country Course on Friday, Oct. 27. Alabama at the SEC Championships
The Crimson Tide men have won three SEC team championships (1973, 2008, 2009) and nine individual championships, the most recent by Antibahs Kosgei in 2015. David Kimani (2000, 2001, 2002) is the Tide's lone three-time champion. The Alabama women won back-to-back SEC crowns in 1986 and 1987 and have won four individual SEC titles - Evelyn Adiru (1985, 1987), Carole Tremanier (1988) and Becki Wells (1993).

Head Coach Dan Waters' Outlook
"Our top runners have competed very well so far this season and are peaking at the right time. For our seniors, this will be their last opportunity to run at the SEC Championships so it will be a special day for them. I'm looking forward to seeing how we stack up against the rest of the conference."
In the Rankings
The Alabama men's cross country team remains at No. 3 while the women are ranked No. 9, in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region rankings released Oct. 16.
Next Meet: Tide to Host NCAA South Regional on Nov. 10
Following the SEC Cross Country Championships at Georgia on Oct. 27, Alabama will host the NCAA South Regional on Friday Nov. 10 at Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa. The top two men's and women's team finishers will qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships along with the top four men's and women's individual finishers who are not members of the qualifying teams.
