Alabama Women’s Golf Moves into Second Place at Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

Nine-under par second round puts Crimson Tide in position for third straight top-two finish
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Alabama women's golf team moved into second place at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational after a 9-under par second round on Saturday at the par-72, 6,379-yard Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Junior Lauren Stephenson (72-68/140) carded the low round for Alabama with a 4-under par 68 and is tied for 10th, five shots off the lead, along with sophomore Kristen Gillman (71-69/140), who finished at 3-under par. Senior Lakareber Abe (70-71/141) finished at 1-under par is tied for 15th at 3-under par for the tournament.
Junior Cheyenne Knight (74-71/145) finished at 1-under par today and is tied for 32nd at 1-over par for the tournament. Freshman Angelica Moresco (72-73/145) was 1-over par for the round to join Knight in 32nd place heading into Sunday's final round.
Duke (283-271/554) tops the leaderboard at 22-under par after a 17-under round on Saturday. Alabama (285-279/564) is 10 shots back in second at 12-under par, followed by South Carolina (284-281/565) at 11-under par. Arkansas (288-279/567) is in fourth place at 9-under par. Host North Carolina (289-283/572) and North Carolina State (286-286/572) are tied for fifth at 4-under par.
The third round of the 54-hole tournament will begin with a shotgun start 8:15 a.m. CT on Sunday. Alabama will be paired with Duke and South Carolina in round three. The Tide will be seeking its third top-two finish in three outings and its second team championship of the fall on Sunday.
