Alabama Rowing Opens Fall Season Saturday at Chattanooga Head Race

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – As it has in each of the last 11 seasons, Alabama rowing opens its 12th season of competition at the Chattanooga Head Race Saturday, Oct. 14. The Crimson Tide is slated to compete in four races on the Tennessee River starting at 8 a.m. CT.
"I really want to see the boats that will go up to the Head of the Charles have a good race this weekend in Chattanooga," UA head coach Larry Davis said. "We want to see all the crews that are up there perform at the level we see at practice."
The Tide opens competition with the Women's Collegiate 8+ at 8 a.m. CT with four boats amongst a field of nine, followed by one crew in the Women's Novice 4+ at 10:50 a.m. CT. Alabama will conclude its racing schedule in the afternoon with six boats in the Women's Collegiate 4+ at 1:20 p.m. CT and one in the Women's Novice 8+ at 1:50 p.m. CT.
"Every day is an opportunity to get better and so far, it looks like we have that passion and fire we need," Davis said.
This weekend is the first of four fall races the Tide will compete in. Alabama will head to Cambridge, Mass. on Oct. 20-21 for the Head of the Charles before returning to Chattanooga for the Head of the Hooch on Nov. 4-5. The Tide will close out its fall season at home against Central Florida on Nov. 11.
