TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second year in a row, Alabama women's basketball will team up with Callie's Place, a 501 (c) (3) animal welfare organization set out to improve the lives of pets and people in West Alabama with an emphasis on giving un-nurtured, unloved animals a second chance, for an Animal Rescue and Advocacy Day, which will take place at the Arkansas game on Sunday, Jan. 15.
Fans are encouraged to donate wet and/or dry cat and dog food to help the team reach its collection goal of 1,000 pounds. Drop off bins will be placed on the concourse of Coleman Coliseum during the Kentucky game on Thursday, Jan. 12 as well as at the event on Sunday, Jan. 15. Anyone that donates pet food will receive $3 admission.
Representatives from Callie's Place will also be in attendance with adoptable pets beginning at 2 p.m. prior to the Arkansas game.
Callie's Place currently houses 30 dogs and cats that are up for adoption. It takes approximately 60 pounds of food each day to feed all of the animals.
