TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 4 Alabama gymnastics team faces off against No. 8 Missouri Friday in Columbia at 7:30 p.m. CT. The meet will be televised by the SEC Network, with Holly Rowe, Courtney Kupets Carter and Lauren Sisler calling the action.
"We're focused on the small details, like handstands and landings, while also adding more difficulty to our routines," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said.
Missouri will be the Crimson Tide's third consecutive top-10 opponent, following No. 1 Oklahoma in week one and then No. 1 LSU. Alabama scored a season-high 197.100 last week against the Tigers, making the Tide one of just four teams in the nation to score over a 197 this season.
Missouri has scored a season-high 196.225 twice this season, once to open the season against Ball State and Illinois and last weekend against Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri.
All-American junior Kiana Winston has led the Tide early in the season, competing in the all-around in Alabama's first two meets of the season, posting a career-best score both times. At Oklahoma she scored a 39.500 and against LSU she won the all-around with a career-best 39.600.
Alabama has used 12 gymnasts in each of its first two meets, with the senior class leading the way, putting up 21 of the Tide's first 48 routines. The junior class is second with 16 routines.
On the road this week and next, Alabama's next home meet is Feb. 3 against Florida for the Tide's annual Power of Pink meet. Tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262), located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, and online at RollTide.com.
