Men’s and Women’s Basketball Season to Open with Doubleheader at Coleman Coliseum

Both women (5 p.m. CT) and men (8 p.m. CT) will open 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 11
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the third consecutive year, the Alabama men's and women's basketball programs will open their regular seasons with a doubleheader in Coleman Coliseum. This year's twinbill will take place on Friday, Nov. 11, as the women tip off the campaign at 5 p.m. CT against New Orleans, followed by the men's season opener vs. Coastal Carolina at 8 p.m. CT.
Head coach Avery Johnson will begin his second season at the helm of the Crimson Tide men's squad that returns seven letterwinners from last year's NIT team, while also adding a talented group of newcomers and transfers to this year's squad. Leading the list of returnees will be senior captain Jimmie Taylor and 2014 SEC All-Freshman Team honoree Shannon Hale, while redshirt freshman Dazon Ingram is back from a foot injury that caused him to miss all but the first seven games of the 2015-16 season.
Meanwhile, Kristy Curry enters her fourth year at the helm of the Alabama women's program. Curry's team is looking to continue momentum from the program's first postseason appearance in five years as she welcomes back four starters and seven letterwinners from last season's WNIT team. Joining them will be 2014 SEC All-Freshman Team member and the 2014-15 team leader in point and rebounds, Ashley Williams, who sat out a season ago, along with six newcomers this
Fans will be able to purchase a ticket good for both games for $6, once single-game tickets go on sale on Oct. 24th.

Mini plans and all other single-game tickets for both men's and women's basketball will go on sale Monday, Oct. 3, at 8 a.m. CT.
