Alabama Women’s Tennis Has Two Featured in ITA Preseason Rankings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team has two student-athletes that are ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings, as announced Tuesday. Senior Erin Routliffe and sophomore Andie Daniell enter the 2016 fall season ranked No. 34 in doubles. Routliffe and Daniell are also ranked No. 18 and No. 33 in singles play, respectively.
Last season, Routliffe and Daniell finished at No. 61 in doubles, while Routliffe and Natalia Maynetto ended at No. 90. Individually, Routliffe finished No. 29 in the final ITA singles rankings, while Daniell came in at No. 51. Routliffe's ranking of No. 29 is the highest since 2012 when Mary Anne Macfarlane finish at No. 15. In each of her three previous seasons, Routliffe has finished in the top 65 nationally in singles. Daniell's ranking of No. 51 is the highest final ranking achieved for a freshman since Macfarlane finished at No. 41 in 2011.
The two, Routliffe and Daniell, also earned a spot in the final regional standings of 2016. Together, they landed at No. 5 in doubles, while Routliffe finished at No. 5 and Daniell secured the No. 8 position on the finals singles regional rankings list.
In dual matches last year, Routliffe played primarily at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots where she posted 15 victories. In doubles play, Routliffe competed at the No. 1 position in all of her matches where she won seven matches. Daniell spilt between the No. 1 and No. 2 spots in doubles play, collecting six wins. In singles play, Daniell won eight matches, playing primarily at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
