
Alabama’s Erin Routliffe Advances to Finals of National Bank Challenger

WINNIPEG, Canada – Alabama women's tennis rising senior Erin Routliffe, a native Canadian, won six matches and advanced to the finals of the National Bank Challenger, which was held at the Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club in Winnipeg, Canada.
In the qualifying draw, Routliffe won both of her matches soundly in just two sets, which was enough to advance her to the main draw. She carried that momentum into the main draw, where she went on to win four-straight matches. Routliffe led 6-2, 2-1 in her round of 32 match over Hungary's Naomi Totka before she was forced to retire. From there, Routliffe posted a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over sixth-seeded Ellie Halbauer, followed by a 6-4. 6-3 win against Michika Ozeki of Japan. In the semifinals, Routliffe downed Ronit Yurovsky, who played for Michigan and was a 2016 ITA All-American and the 2016 ITA Midwest Region of the Year, 6-3, 6-2.
In the championship match, Routliffe dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Ohio State's Francesca Di Lorenzo, who finished last season ranked fourth nationally in singles play according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
