HOOVER, Ala. – The University of Alabama football team was selected as the favorite to win the Southeastern Conference's Western Division and the 2016 SEC Championship by media members in attendance at the conference's annual media days, which concluded its four-day run on Thursday.
The Crimson Tide were picked to win the SEC Western Division with 246 first-place votes and 2,220 points, ranking ahead of LSU, which was predicted to finish second in the division with 1,984 points. Alabama also outpolled LSU in the voting for SEC champion, as the Tide finished with 223 points to LSU's 59. Tennessee was third in the conference champion voting with 29 points.
The voting at SEC Media Days has correctly predicted the conference champion five times since 1992.
