TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team will, once again, take part in ITA Kick-Off Weekend, this time playing at Ohio State in 2017. The two-seed Crimson Tide will face No. 3 Harvard, while the host, and top-seeded, Buckeyes will take on No. 4 Florida State. First round matches are slated for Saturday, Jan. 28 with the consolation and championship matches scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 29.
"We're looking forward to playing Harvard in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at Ohio State," said Alabama head coach Jenny Mainz. This event provides excellent opportunities in January. It's an early test to help prepare us for the spring season and SEC league play. It will be fun to go play some teams we rarely see."
Columbus, Ohio is one of 15 sites across the country hosting ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The 15 teams that win both of their matches will be invited to play in the 2017 ITA National Team Indoor Championships, which will be hosted at Yale Feb. 10-13.
Alabama has advanced to the final site for national indoors the past four consecutive seasons.
