
Avery Johnson to Appear on NBA TV Thursday Night as 2016 Draft Analyst

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men's basketball head coach Avery Johnson will be a part of the 2016 NBA Draft coverage on NBA TV, serving as an in-studio guest analyst. Johnson, who is entering his second season at the helm of the Crimson Tide hoops program, will provide in-depth analysis surrounding this year's draft and give his perspective after a long-time career in the NBA as head coach and player.
The 2016 NBA Draft is set to begin Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT (8 p.m. ET) from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Johnson will be part of the live draft day coverage on NBA TV that will begin with the special 2016 NBA Draft Preview show at 4 p.m. CT, highlighting the draft's top prospects, breaking news and topics. Johnson will be one of five analysts on the show, working alongside Steve Smith, David Aldridge, Seth Davis and Stu Jackson. Matt Winer will serve as the studio host.
Following the draft, Johnson will be with the same group on the network's 2016 NBA Draft Review, which will recap the draft with news, information and analysis starting at 11 p.m. CT.
Johnson spent 16 NBA seasons as a player with seven different teams, highlighted when he helped guide the San Antonio Spurs to an NBA Championship in 1999. Johnson also spent nearly seven seasons as a head coach for the Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets and was named the 2006 NBA Coach of the Year.
