Alabama Swimmers Earn Women's NCAA Championship Berths

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Four Alabama swimmers have earned individual berths to the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships that will be held March 17-19 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Senior Emma Saunders, junior Bridget Blood and sophomore Mia Nonnenberg are making a return trip to the NCAA Championships while Marian Yurchishin earned a spot in the championships in her rookie season.
Saunders, making her third trip to the NCAA Championships, is the school record holder in the 100 and 200 freestyles and the 200 backstroke. Blood, ranked second all-time in the 100 breaststroke, third in the 200 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 individual medley at Alabama, is also making her third NCAA appearance. She also earned silver in 100 breaststroke at the recent Southeastern Conference Championships.
Nonnenberg, back for her second trip to the national championships, is the school record holder in the 200 and 400 individual medleys as well as the 500 freestyle. Yurchishin is ranked fourth all-time in the 200 breaststroke and 10th in the 100 breaststroke.
The Crimson Tide will add relay swimmers to its championships roster in the coming week. Alabama will also have the chance to add divers to its NCAA Championship roster following the Zone B Championships which will be held March 6-8 in Atlanta, Georgia.
