Alabama Soccer Places Two on 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division I Women’s All-South Region Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –Alabama soccer's Kat Stratton and Lacey Clarida were named to the 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division I Women's All-South Region Third Team, the organization announced.
Stratton and Clarida were the first Alabama student-athletes to be named to the NSCAA All-South Region list since the 2014 season, when goalkeeper Emily Rusk and forward Laura Lee Smith were named to the Third Team.
Stratton earned notoriety between the posts last season, as she finished the year nationally-ranked No. 67 in total saves with 90. The Tupelo, Miss., native concluded the year ranked No. 85 in the country in goalkeeper minutes with 1,741:20. Stratton ended Southeastern Conference play ranked No. 5 in save percentage (0.804) and saves per game (4.74). Additionally, she completed the season ranked No. 3 in total saves with 90, while compiling five shutouts which ranked seventh-best in the SEC.
Clarida, a forward who hails from Homer Glen, Ill., played in just 10 games last season but she proved to be an impact player, as she finished tied for first on the team in goals scored with seven. Four of those seven goals scored were game-winning goals, and she ended the year nationally ranked No. 61 in the category. In league play, Clarida finished runner-up in goals per game averaging 0.7. She also concluded conference play ranked No. 5 and No. 6 in points per game and shots per game averaging 1.5 and 3.1 per game, respectively.
