Day Two of Seminole All-Conference Showdown in the Books for Alabama Women’s Tennis

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Alabama women's tennis team collected three victories in singles play and one in doubles, as part of the second day of the Seminole All-Conference Showdown at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla. Senior Joanna Savva and freshman Juliana Valero claimed the championship of their respective doubles draw.
In the championship match of the Renegade/Osci doubles draw, Savva and Valero partnered up to defeat their teammate in junior Smith Hinton and Elizabeth Bagerbaseh of UCF in an 8-6 decision.
In singles play, Hinton topped UCF's Cortney Cesarini in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, to advance to the championship match of the Seminole singles draw. Hinton will take on Nandini Das of Florida State in tomorrow's championship match.
Valero went on to tally the Tide's second singles win of the day, as she outlasted Oklahoma's Malene Strip in a match that was decided in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1. Alabama's final singles win of the day came from Savva, as she took down Mellisa Pick of Wisconsin, 6-2, 2-6, 10-5.
There will be one round of singles tomorrow and play is set to start at 8 a.m. CT.
