TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team went through a final practice on Thursday afternoon, working a 90-minute session in shells at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility. The practice focused on special teams and put the final touches on a game plan for No. 15 LSU.
The two SEC West rivals are set for a primetime battle on CBS at 7 p.m. CT at Tiger Stadium. The trio of Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce will call the action, their fourth Tide game of the season.
Alabama and LSU will meet for the 81st time in a series that dates back to the 1895 season. The Crimson Tide leads the all-time series, 50-25-5, and is on a five-game winning streak against the Tigers that began with a 21-0 victory in the 2012 Allstate BCS National Championship in New Orleans. Alabama has won 20 of the last 25 matchups between the two teams in Baton Rouge, including a 20-13 overtime victory in 2014. Most recently, Derrick Henry rushed for three touchdowns and the Tide defense limited LSU to 182 total yards in a 30-16 win in Tuscaloosa last season.
Following Saturday's road game with the Tigers, Alabama will return to Bryant-Denny Stadium for a divisional showdown with the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Crimson Tide holds the series lead, 78-18-3, and has claimed victories in each of the last eight meetings. The most recent contest between the two teams came on Nov. 14, 2015, when the Tide defeated the Bulldogs in Starkville, 31-6.
