BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama senior volleyball player Krystal Rivers posted a strong showing in the concluding week of the 2016 regular season, earning the final Offensive Player of the Week award from the Southeastern Conference and her fifth of the season.
This week's award marks her fifth Offensive Player of the Week award of the season and the eighth of her career, both of which are Alabama records. Rivers, who was named the SEC Player of the Year last week, led the team with 65 kills and a .357 hitting percentage over last week's matches against Ole Miss and LSU. In Wednesday's match against the Rebels, Rivers passed Erin Heffner (2001-04) in the Crimson Tide record books to become the all-time kills leader at Alabama. Her 65 kills this week brings her final career-record total to 2,148 along with a school-record 2,506.0 career points. In the regular season finale against the Tigers on Saturday, Rivers posted her team-leading 10th double-double of the season with 30 kills and 10 digs and totaled a career-high eight block assists, six of which came in the third set.
