NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Alabama women's tennis sophomore Andie Daniell won three singles matches in the qualifying draw of the Nashville Women's $25K Pro Tennis Classic to advance to the tournament's main draw.
"I stuck to my game plan," said Daniell. "I made sure that I played to my strengths as well. I did a good job weathering the storms during the match, and overall I had good focus."
In the opening round, Daniell outlasted Amanda Rodgers of the U.S. in a match that was decided in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. After going the distance in her initial match, Daniell made quick work in the second round defeating Southern Cal's Jessica Failla in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
Daniell used that same momentum from the second match in the third, as she topped Shannon Hudson of Arkansas in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, to advance to the singles main draw.
