TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball's fifth and final signee of the early period is Kaylee Tow, who inked her National Letter of Intent to join the Crimson Tide for the 2017-18 academic year.
"Kaylee might be the surprise prospect in the 2017 class," UA head coach Patrick Murphy said. "She's our first ever signee from the state of Kentucky and is very athletic and has tons of power. Not only is she a great athlete but she is also a very good student. She's going to be a great leader for us over the next four years."
Tow hails from Madisonville, Ky., and plays prep softball at Madisonville North-Hopkins, posting top-five finishes at the state tournament in 2016 and 2014. This past season, she was named the KHSAA Class 3A State Player of the Year and was tabbed a First Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. She earned FloSoftball second team all-america honors and all-state honors in each of the last two seasons and is also a three-time all-region selection and four-time all-district honoree. She owns Kentucky state single-season records in hits, runs scored and walks and is currently ranked second in career runs and home runs.
Playing club softball with Louisville Lady Sluggers, she helped the team earn a runner-up finish at the 2016 Triple Crown Sports Nationals. She was a 2016 Junior Olympic Cup All-Star and was recently invited to the 2017 Team USA Junior Women's National Team selection camp this coming January. Previously playing with Southern Force, she earned top-10 finishes at the 2015 PGF nationals and 2014 ASA nationals.
