
Crimson Tide in the NFL Spotlight: Week 9

Former Alabama players continue to rank among league leaders on both sides of the ball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Below is a look at some of the highlights from last week by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Landon Collins posted another monster performance, leading the New York defense in tackles for the fifth straight game as the Giants defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 28-23. He finished the day with 12 stops, including a sack, and an interception, his third in the past two games. On Wednesday morning, Collins was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for a second consecutive week. He is the first player to win the award in consecutive games since Charles Tillman in 2012 and the first safety to do it since Troy Polamalu in 2010. Â
For the season, Collins has recorded 69 tackles, including three sacks, along with three interceptions and six pass breakups. The second-year standout leads all secondary defenders in tackles and sacks, while ranking third in interceptions. He is also the only player in the NFL to lead his team in tackles, sacks and interceptions.
Julio Jones continued his impressive play, hauling in eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in the Atlanta Falcons' 43-28 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now in his sixth season, the All-Pro wideout has recorded 465 career receptions, the most in NFL history through a player's first 75 games. Across nine games in 2016, Jones has a league-high 970 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 51 catches. He also ranks second among wideouts in yards after the catch (315), sixth in touchdowns (5) and seventh in receptions (51).
Mark Ingram enjoyed his best game of the season, running for 158 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in the New Orleans Saints' 41-23 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Ingram also caught two passes for 13 yards, including a five-yard touchdown grab. Late in the second quarter, the former Heisman winner broke free for a career-long 75-yard touchdown run which also ranked as the fourth-longest run in franchise history.
On the season, Ingram has compiled 497 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 104 carries, while hauling in 24 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns. His three scoring grabs are the second-most among all running backs, and he is one of only five running backs with multiple rushing and receiving touchdowns this seasons
Amari Cooper had another solid game for the Oakland Raiders, catching a team-high six passes for 56 yards in a 30-20 victory over the Denver Broncos. The Pro Bowl receiver now has 58 catches for 843 yards and two touchdowns on the season. He currently ranks second among wideouts in receptions (58) and yards after the catch (328) while ranking third in receiving yards (843). Â
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix put together another strong performance, finishing with three tackles, including half of a sack and two interceptions as the Green Bay Packers fell to the Indianapolis Colts, 31-26. The Pro Bowl safety recorded multiple interceptions in a game for the second time in his career. On the season, Clinton-Dix has 35 tackles, two interceptions, three pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Mark Barron once again led the Los Angeles defense in tackles, finishing with nine stops, including a sack and one more tackle for a loss, as the Rams fell to the Carolina Panthers, 13-10. Barron currently ranks second on the team in tackles with 60 and second among all linebackers with six pass breakups.
Kenyan Drake provided the game-winning play for the Dolphins, returning a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to give Miami a 27-23 lead over the New York Jets, the eventual final score. Drake also caught one pass for six yards and recorded one tackle on special teams.
