TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball will open its fall slate of games with a pair of doubleheaders this weekend at Rhoads Stadium, facing Middle Tennessee State on Saturday, Oct. 8 and Spring Hill College on Sunday, Oct. 9. Both doubleheaders start at 1:30 p.m. CT and tickets can be purchased at the gate for $5.
The Tide returns 14 players from last season's Women's College World Series team, including All-American pitcher Sydney Littlejohn and SEC All-Freshman catcher Reagan Dykes. Alabama fans will also get a chance to see the team's four freshmen in action for the first time, as Elissa Brown (Eclectic, Ala.), Gabrielle Callaway (San Diego, Calif.), Bailey Hemphill (Lafayette, La.) and Claire Jenkins (Cullman, Ala.) are all slated to make their Crimson Tide debut at Rhoads Stadium.
Following this weekend, fans will have two more opportunities to watch Alabama compete during the month of October. The Tide hosts Alabama State for a doubleheader on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. CT and Wallace-Hanceville on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. CT. Proceeds from fall games go to the Bama Softball Walk-Off Club, the official booster club for Alabama softball. Fans wishing to sign up for the club and support the program will have the opportunity to do so at all games throughout the fall season.
Last season, Alabama made its 11th Women's College World Series appearance, finishing sixth nationally with a 51-14 record. The Tide coaching staff was named the NFCA South Region Coaching Staff of the Year for the 10th time in program history, led by head coach Patrick Murphy, who enters his 19th year at the helm of the program this season.
