Former Alabama players have big days on both sides of the ball
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Below is a look at some of the highlights from last week by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Landon Collins enjoyed a career day as the New York Giants defeated the Los Angeles Rams, 17-10, inside Wembley Stadium in London. Collins finished with a team-high eight tackles and two interceptions, including a highlight-reel 44-yard return for a touchdown.
Collins recorded multiple interceptions in a game for the first time in his career, while also scoring his first career touchdown. After picking off the pass, Collins weaved his way through the opposition before trucking into the end zone for the score. The second-year standout currently ranks second in the league with 49 solo tackles and leads all secondary defenders in total tackles with 57.
Posting his second consecutive 100-yard performance, Julio Jones hauled in nine passes for 174 yards in the Atlanta Falcons' 33-30 overtime loss to the San Diego Chargers. On the season, Jones has 40 catches for 830 yards and four touchdowns. The All-Pro receiver currently leads all wideouts in receiving yards (830), while ranking second in yards after the catch (272) and sixth in receptions (40).
Mark Ingram continued his solid play, rushing for 62 yards on 16 carries while grabbing four passes for 20 yards and a touchdown as the New Orleans Saints fell to the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-21. For the season, Ingram has 86 carries for 334 yards and a touchdown along with 22 catches for 154 yards and two touchdowns. He is one of only six running backs in the league with multiple receiving touchdowns this season.
The Crimson Tide will be well represented during the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry will suit up for the Titans, along with Jalston Fowler and Rashad Johnson, while the Jaguars will feature former standouts T.J. Yeldon and Carson Tinker. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:25 p.m. CT and will air live on the NFL Network.
