Alabama Women’s Golf Set to Wrap up Fall Schedule at The Landfall Tradition this Weekend

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team returns to action this weekend at The Landfall Tradition, hosted by the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, Oct. 28-30 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
Alabama has made six appearances at The Landfall and came away with the tournament title in 2013. The Crimson Tide finished fifth in last year's tournament.
Through three tournaments, sophomores Cheyenne Knight and Lauren Stephenson are the Tide's top two golfers. Knight leads the team with a 69.22 scoring average, followed by Stephenson at 69.56. Knight has three top 10 finishes in three outings this season, including a victory in Mason Rudolph Championship to open the season. Stephenson has two second place finishes in three outings - the Mason Rudolph and, most recently, the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 14-16 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Alabama in the National Rankings
The Crimson Tide's team score of 71.16 ranks No. 1 in the Golfstat statistical rankings released Oct. 24. Florida State (71.18), UCLA (71.68), USC (71.84) and Oklahoma (72.38) round out the top five. The Tide is No. 1 in the latest Golfweek ratings with a rating of 69.99. UCLA (69.99), Stanford (70.54), Florida State (70.59) and USC (70.79) round out the top five.
Crimson Tide Boasts Four of Nation's Top 20 Golfers
Sophomore Cheyenne Knight enters the weekend as the No. 5-rated golfer in the nation in the latest Golfstat statistical rankings released Oct. 24. Knight (69.22) is joined in the top 20 by three of her teammates: sophomore Lauren Stephenson (69.56) is tied for ninth, junior Lakareber Abe (70.17) is 16th and freshman Kristen Gillman (70.44) is 18th.
Knight (6th), Stephenson (10th), Gillman (21st) and Abe (22nd) are also among the leaders in the Golfweek women's rankings released Oct. 24.
Shooting in the 60s
The duo of Cheyenne Knight (69.22) and Lauren Stephenson (69.56) gives Alabama two players with an average score below 70. UCLA is the only other team with two sub-70 teammates - Bronte Law (69.60) and Lilia Vu (69.80).
