Alabama Rowing Travels to Massachusetts for 52nd Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Alabama rowing continues its fall slate this weekend at the 52nd annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass. on the Charles River. The Crimson Tide will send three boats to compete in the Women's' Club 4+, Women's Club 8+ and Women's Championship 4+.
The Women's Club 4+ will compete first for Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 12:10 p.m. CT amongst a field of 59 collegiate and club crews. The Tide's Women's Club 8+ will compete soon after at 12:51 p.m. CT alongside 38 other crews in the event. On Sunday, Oct. 23, Alabama will race in a very competitive Championship 4+ race that includes a number of high-level club and international crews.
"There's a lot of turns and a lot of narrow bridges," UA head coach Larry Davis when describing the course. "It's a tactical race. Beyond how good you're making your boat move in terms of boat speed you have to be making your turns at the right time. If you don't, you waste time and someone could cut you off. There's a lot of challenges but I think the coxswains we have going up there are ready to do the job."
After this weekend, the Tide will have one more fall competition back in Chattanooga with the Head of the Hooch on Nov. 5-6. Alabama will then resume competition on Saturday, Feb. 25 in Tuscaloosa against Eastern Michigan.
