TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team practiced in full pads for two hours at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields on Tuesday afternoon in preparation for this Saturday's top-10 matchup with No. 6/6 Texas A&M.
Alabama will be faced with the task of stopping the SEC's top offense that averages 532.8 yards per game, including a ground attack that leads the conference with 274 yards a game. Not to be overlooked is the Aggies' defensive unit, which ranks first in the SEC with 58 tackles for loss. The two SEC West rivals will square off at Bryant-Denny Stadium at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS. The trio of Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson and Allie LaForce will call the game, the trio's second consecutive Alabama game. Â
The Crimson Tide holds the series advantage, 6-2, dating back to the first meeting in the 1942 Cotton Bowl. Alabama has also won the last three contests between the two squads, outscoring the Aggies 149-65 over that span. The last matchup in Tuscaloosa came in 2014, as the Tide came away with a 59-0 victory, the largest win over a ranked opponent in UA history. Last season, Alabama left College Station with a 41-23 win.
