Alabama Women’s Golf Finishes Second at Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Alabama women's golf team shot a two-over par 290 on the final day of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday at the par-72, 6,379-yard Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Tide (285-284-290/859) finished second at five-under par to earn its third top-two finish in three tournaments this fall. Wake Forest (282-287-285/854) won the tournament with a 10-under par performance. Arkansas (286-287-287/860) was third at four-under par, North Carolina State finished fourth at two-over par (286-287-289/866). South Carolina (292-291-290/873) and Tennessee (294-291-288/873) tied for fifth at nine-over par.
Individually, sophomore Lauren Stephenson finished second at nine-under par (68-70-69/207), her second runner-up finish in three outings in 2016. Sophomore Cheyenne Knight (70-71-73/214) tied for ninth at two-under par. Freshman Kristen Gillman (71-70-76/217) tied for 15th at one-over par. Seniors Cammie Gray (seven-over par, 76-75-72/223) and Mia Landegren (16-over par, 79-73-80/232) tied for 37th and 76th, respectively.
Alabama will be off until traveling to Wilmington, N.C. for The Landfall Tradition, hosted by University of North Carolina-Wilmington at the Country Club of Landfall, Oct. 28-30. The tournament will be the Tide's final outing of the fall.
