Metro Boomin to be Featured Musical Act for 2016 Supe Store Tide Tipoff

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the second year in a row, the Supe Store Tide Tipoff event will host a well-known music artist to highlight the entertainment portion of the night. Metro Boomin, record producer and DJ, has signed to be the featured musical act for this year's event, which is set for Friday, Oct. 21, in Coleman Coliseum.
Metro Boomin is one of the hottest record producers and DJs in the country, having collaborated with the likes of Drake, Future, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Ludacris, Wiz Khalifa, Young Jeezy and many others. The 22-year old composed and recorded Drake and Future's "What a Time to be Alive" along with Future's solo album "DS2" – which sold more than 850,000 copies worldwide.
Friday night's event will feature a skills competition, three-point shootout and a dunk contest prior to the entertainment of the night, giving it the feel of an NBA All-Star game.
The 2016 Supe Store Tide Tipoff will begin at 6 p.m. CT with a 45-minute autograph session featuring both teams' players and head coaches stationed throughout the concourse. Beginning at 7 p.m., the teams will be introduced followed by the on-court activities, which will involve students and representatives from both the men's and women's teams. The dunk contest will be held in front of celebrity judges, who will be announced prior to the competition.
Admission to the event is free for UA students as well as men's and women's basketball season ticketholders. UA students, admitted one per student ID, will swipe their Action Card similar to a regular men's basketball game at the west entrance of Coleman Coliseum event night beginning at 6 p.m. CT. General admission tickets for all other fans interested in attending will be $5.
All seating at the event will be first come, first serve general admission seating. UA students will have a choice to sit in the student section or walk down and stand on the floor for both the basketball portion and the entertainment portion of the night.
