TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball continues its fall slate Sunday, Oct. 16 with a doubleheader against Alabama State starting at 2 p.m. CT. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased at the gate.
Last weekend the Tide opened fall play with a pair of doubleheader sweeps, defeating Middle Tennessee State in two games on Saturday before beating Spring Hill College twice on Sunday. Alabama outscored its opponents 43-1 over the four games and received significant contributions throughout its entire lineup, including freshmen Elissa Brown (Eclectic, Ala.), Gabrielle Callaway (San Diego, Calif.), Bailey Hemphill (Lafayette, La.) and Claire Jenkins (Cullman, Ala.).
Following this Sunday's contest, the Tide will host one more fall doubleheader, welcoming Wallace-Hanceville to Rhoads Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1:30 p.m. CT. Proceeds from fall games go to the Bama Softball Walk-Off Club, the official booster club for Alabama softball. Fans wishing to sign up for the club and support the program will have the opportunity to do so at all games throughout the fall season.
The Tide returns 14 players from last season's team that made the program's 11th Women's College World Series appearance, finishing sixth nationally with a 51-14 record. The Tide coaching staff was named the NFCA South Region Coaching Staff of the Year for the 10th time in program history, led by head coach Patrick Murphy, who enters his 19th year at the helm of the program this season.
