TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team continued preparations for this weekend's rivalry game with No. 9/11 Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon, putting in two hours of work in full pads at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields.
The Crimson Tide will look to improve upon last weekend's defensive performance in Fayetteville, where the Tide forced five turnovers and limited the Razorbacks to a season-low 73 yards rushing. Alabama travels to Knoxville for the annual "Third Saturday in October" contest with Tennessee this Saturday. The top-10 showdown at Neyland Stadium is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS. Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson will call the game from the booth with Allie LaForce covering the sidelines.
The Tide and Volunteers will meet for the 99th time in a rivalry series that dates back to the 1901 season. Alabama holds the all-time series advantage, 52-38-7 (53-37-8 actual), and has won the last nine matchups between the two squads. UA has also won four consecutive meetings in Knoxville, outscoring the Vols 148-52 over that span. Most recently, the Tide took down Tennessee, 19-14, at Bryant-Denny Stadium a season ago.
