TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama head soccer coach Wes Hart announced the addition of freshman Chloe Maize, an early enrollee for the spring semester in Tuscaloosa. Maize is eligible to play immediately.
"We are thrilled to have Chloe as part of our 2016 recruiting class," Hart said. "Her ability to create and score goals makes her a special talent. Chloe's decision to enroll midyear is huge for us. It allows us to start integrating Chloe in to the team, while also adjusting to the physical and mental demands of a college student athlete. I believe Chloe has a bright future ahead of her. We expect big things from her the next four years."
Maize, a forward, is a native of Cleveland, Tenn., but split her prep soccer career between Atlanta-based club, Tophat Soccer Club, and Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn. She joins the Tide after a successful club career at Tophat, where she was named 2014 Region 3 MVP and a member of the All-Region 3 Team for three consecutive years from 2013-15. Maize helped lead Tophat to four consecutive state championships (2011-15), the 2015 National Quarterfinals, three consecutive regional championships (2013-14) and four consecutive Region 3 Pools (2012-15).
Maize, who only played for Baylor School for the 2015 season, helped lead her high school to the state finals as the team captain. She was also a member of the all-state team and a member of the Best-of-Preps Team.
Her national honors include being a U.S. Soccer Training Invitee, the 2015 U-16 National League leading scorer and a member of the Olympic Development Program State Teams from 2010-15.
Off the pitch, Maize had a 4.0 GPA, was a member of the National Honor Society and a Chattanooga Food Bank volunteer from 2010-15.
