Celia Jimenez Invited to Spanish National Team Camp

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Junior midfielder Celia Jimenez has been invited to take part in the Spanish Women's National Team training camp in Madrid. The camp will begin on Jan. 18 and will last one week.
The Spanish Women's National Team is continuing preparation for qualifying for the Union of European Football Association (UEFA) Euro 2017 tournament, hosted by the Netherlands. Spain will next play at Montenegro on Jan. 24.
Head coach Jorge Vilda has named 23 players to the camp, which consists of the top female players from Spain.
The tournament features eight group winners and the six best runners-up from qualifying.
Currently, Spain leads Group 2 with nine points from wins in its three wins over Finland (2-1), Ireland (3-0) and Portugal (2-0).
Jimenez, a member of the 2015 All-Southeastern Conference second team, started and played in all 19 matches for the Tide. She led the team in points (10), goals (4), game-winning goals (2), shots (55) and shots on goal (18). Jimenez was also a member of the Spanish Women's National Team that competed in the 2015 Women's World Cup.
