FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. - The US Open National Playoffs - Men's and Women's Doubles Championships concluded Friday at the Connecticut Tennis Center at Yale University in New Haven, Conn., with Erin Routliffe and Maya Jansen earning the coveted wild card entry into the 2015 US Open women's doubles main draw. Erin and Maya will play Raquel Kops-Jones/Abigail Spears in the opening round on either Wednesday or Thursday of this week.
Throughout Erin and Maya's experience at the US Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., RollTide.com will feature updates, pictures, videos and thoughts from the duo themselves. Below is a quick glance at Erin and Maya's last couple of days leading into this week's play. Enjoy and Roll Tide!
Hey BAMA!,
What a whirlwind it's been since we left New Haven and arrived in New York City! After winning New Haven and receiving the wild card into the US Open, we immediately got on a train and trekked to the Big Apple!
We are staying at the Grand Hyatt which is just a 10 minute walk from Times Square, so we have been extremely touristy as of late!
We have been on the Flushing Meadows grounds the last two days, picking up credentials, lounging in the players area and even eating in our own cafeteria. On Sunday, we managed to get a hit in on the courts and practiced next to American favorite Ryan Harrison!
We just looked up and saw our draw; we play the 6th seed, but unfortunately we still don't know the schedule of play yet. Our families are set to arrive in the next couple days as well as Coach Mainz! We can't wait!
Today's plan is to catch some of the opening round matches, get a good hit in and relax before our tournament starts.
We are so grateful for all the support coming our way, we can feel it all the way up in New York City!
As always, ROLL TIDE!!
