Alabama Softball Announces 2015-16 Fall and Spring Schedules

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama softball has announced its fall and spring dates for the 2015-16 season, as well as a few special occasions to mark the program's 20th anniversary.

The fall portion of the schedule opens with a road date at Middle Tennessee State on Sunday, Oct. 4 before returning home to face Western Kentucky and Mobile on Saturday, Oct. 17 and West Alabama in a doubleheader on Sunday, Oct. 18. The fall schedule wraps up with a doubleheader against Shorter College on Sunday, Oct. 25. In conjunction with the Alabama vs. Tennessee football game on Oct. 24, the Tide will welcome back numerous alumni to celebrate the program's 20th anniversary over the entire weekend.
The 2016 schedule officially begins on Feb. 12-14 as Alabama travels to Orlando, Fla., for the UCF Classic, featuring UCF, James Madison and Fordham. Following a midweek game at UAB on Feb. 16, the Tide will head to Atlanta on Feb. 19-21 as Georgia State will host a tournament that features Maryland, Mercer and Miami (Ohio).
Alabama's 2016 home opener will be on Wednesday, Feb. 24 as the Tide takes on the Troy Trojans. That following weekend, Alabama will host the Easton Bama Bash on Feb. 26-28, welcoming Arizona, Marshall and Tennessee to Rhoads Stadium. After a quick road trip to Jacksonville State on March 2, Alabama returns home for the Crimson Classic on March 4-6 as they will play DePaul, Louisiana-Monroe and North Dakota State. The preseason portion of the schedule concludes with a home game against the Samford Bulldogs on Tuesday, March 8.
The Tide will head to Baton Rouge for its first SEC series of the season on March 11-13 to take on the LSU Tigers. The following weekend, Alabama will spend its spring break in Fullerton, Calif., as Cal State Fullerton will host a tournament on March 17-19 (participating teams to be announced at a later date). Alabama then returns home for a midweek matchup against Alcorn State on Tuesday, March 22 before hosting the Missouri Tigers for a three-game SEC series on March 25-27. The Tide wraps up its five-game homestand facing UAB on Tuesday, March 29.
April begins with a road trip to take on the defending national champion Florida Gators on April 1-3 in Gainesville before the Tide returns home to face Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday, April 5 and Mississippi State on April 8-10. Alabama then heads to Hattiesburg, Miss., on Tuesday, April 12 to take on Southern Miss before traveling to College Station, Texas, for a three-game series against the Texas A&M Aggies on April 15-17.
Alabama will be back in action in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday, April 20 against South Alabama before facing the Kentucky Wildcats on April 22-24, where the Tide will host its Alumni Weekend in honor of the team's 20th anniversary. The SEC schedule concludes the following two weekends with a road series at South Carolina on April 29-May 1 and a home series against Georgia on May 6-8.
The 2016 SEC Tournament, hosted by Mississippi State, will take place from May 11-14 in Starkville, Miss.
This upcoming season is the 20th in program history, as Alabama has quickly built itself into a national powerhouse since the program's inception in 1997. Over the past 19 seasons, the Crimson Tide have amassed 968 wins, including a 2012 national championship, 10 Women's College World Series appearances and 10 SEC regular season and tournament titles. Alabama has appeared in the NCAA Tournament each of the last 17 years, including 11 straight Super Regional appearances, a feat no other team in the nation has done. The Tide have also finished the past 11-straight seasons ranked in the top 10 and have earned 49 NFCA All-American awards.
