Baseball Adds Tanner DeVinny for the 2016 Season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama baseball has signed junior Tanner DeVinny, head coach Mitch Gaspard announced Monday morning. DeVinny comes to Tuscaloosa from Grayson (Texas) Community College, where he spent last season. He is immediately eligible to participate in team activities with the Crimson Tide.
DeVinny, who can play multiple positions, finished the 2015 season batting .296 (55-186) with 12 home runs, 47 RBI and 53 runs scored, while adding 34 walks across his 54 games played. He helped lead the Vikings to a 37-17 overall record.
Prior to his time at Grayson, DeVinny played his freshman year at Kansas State. While in Manhattan, he was named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team after batting .257 (36-140) with six doubles, a triple, three home runs, 31 RBI and 19 walks in his 46 games played, 35 of which he started. He finished that first season ranked second on the team in home runs and third in RBI.
DeVinny attended Lovejoy High School in Lucas, Texas, where he lettered all four years in baseball. As a senior, he was selected to the Class 4A Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State First Team and the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Second Team. In that final prep season, he batted .489 with 11 home runs and 47 RBI.
