Washington Beats USC Upstate, 9-1 in Five Innings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Washington Huskies beat USC Upstate Spartans 9-1 in the second elimination game of the 2015 NCAA Softball Tuscaloosa Regional in Rhoads Stadium. The Huskies return to action Sunday at noon against the region's top seed, Alabama.
The Huskies used 11 hits and a quarter of home runs coming from Kylee Lahners, Kimberlee Souza, Casey Stangel and Kelli Suguro, over four innings to key their five-inning, run-rule victory while the Spartans managed one run, in the top of the fifth inning, on five hits.
Kasey Stanchek picked up the win for Washington, pushing her record to 15-7 on the season, while Lexi Shubert took the loss for the Spartans, finishing her season at 34-7.
