HEAD COACH HEATHER TARR
Opening Statement:
“I’m happy for our team and their ability to respond to something that happened this morning. That was pretty hard to take, tough to swallow, but we are a tough team and we are smart enough to know that we are only as good as the next game.”
#11 Kylee Lahners, CF, Sr.
On facing Alabama again tomorrow: “We are going to have to learn our adjustments that need to be made. We need to come out with a little different approach, be more aggressive, hit the strikes and not the balls. We just need to go home tonight and look over some stuff and come back tomorrow with a fired up approach.”
#19 Kasey Stancheck, P, Sr.
On coming back to beat a team that they’ve lost to: “Playing in a tough conference like the Pac-12 we face some very good opponents obviously as you can see with everyone who is in the regionals hosting regionals. We’ve gotten killed by some of them and then come back the next day and beaten them. I think that’s in the cards for us.”
USC Upstate
HEAD COACH CHRIS HAWKINS
Opening Statement:
“We started off today hitting a little bit better than we had the day before. We played good defense, had good pitching all the way around, got to the last game. Came into the last game feeling pretty good about it. We weren’t able to make the adjustments we need to win. Lexi (Shubert) threw phenomenal all weekend. I couldn’t be more proud of her and our seniors. That was a hard one to take at the end, because that means 10 of them I won’t see again other than phone calls. And when I go look for them they won’t be on our field again so, it kind of means a little bit more to me that it ended that way. But, all good things must come to an end. We are one big family, and we’ll get through it.”
#3 Shellie Robinson, C, Sr.
On facing Kasey Stanchek two days in a row: “Personally, I felt that I did okay against her yesterday. I hit it in the air three times, I fouled twice, and I worked pretty hard coming into this game and just taking it as it is. If this is the last game I’m going to go as hard as I can, and if it’s not, then I’m still going to go as hard as I can and hope for tomorrow.”
On winning a game in NCAAs for the third straight year: “It was really fun. I mean, we were all clicking. Everyone was hitting the ball well, so I couldn’t really ask for more.”
#44 Lexi Shubert, P, So.
On what worked the first game and pitching two games in a row:
“The first game, there was some stuff working, it just depended on the batter. Like I told you before, best pitch is whatever is working. It varied from inning to inning. Going into the next game it still felt good. I’ve pitched two games in a row before this year, so I just felt the same.”
