Men's Tennis Falls to No. 6 Georgia, 4-1

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The 71st-ranked men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 6 Georgia on Sunday in the Crimson Tide's final home match of the season at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. With the loss, UA moves to 15-15 overall and 3-8 in Southeastern Conference play, while the win lifts the Bulldogs to 17-3 on the season and 9-1 against league opponents.
Alabama got off to an early 1-0 lead thanks to wins on courts two and three in doubles. After a loss on court one, Sean Donohue and Stuart Kenyon came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Nathan Pasha and Eric Diaz, 6-4. Clinching the point for the Tide was Sam Edwards and Andrew Goodwin on court three, who earned a hard-fought victory over Wayne Montgomery and Paul Oosterbaan, 7-6(7).
The Bulldogs bounced right back in singles, however, where No. 31 Austin Smith defeated No. 88 Korey Lovett on court one, 6-1, 6-2 to even the score up at 1-all. Next to finish was the matchup on court six where Oosterbaan topped Edwards, 6-2, 6-2. From there, Ben Wagland defeated Kenyon on court four, 6-3, 6-1, before No. 28 Montgomery came back to clinch on court two, 3-6, 7-5, 6-1, over Becker O'Shaughnessey. The remaining two matches that were going back and forth would go unfinished.
The Tide will close out the regular season in Nashville next weekend against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday, April 12, at 1 p.m. CT.
