Retin Obasohan Named to 2015 Community Service Team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -For the second consecutive season,guardRetin Obasohanhas been selected to the Southeastern Conference's Community Service team, it was announced on Monday by the league office.
Always involved in the University of Alabama community outreach efforts, Obasohan speaks to numerous high school kids in the Tuscaloosa area about staying in school and how to achieve your goals is "by sacrificing everything you are to become everything you desire." He mentors teenagers at Tuscaloosa Central High School talking about the importance of school in achieving success.
In addition, he also reads books and speaks at numerous elementary and middle schools and is actively involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Obasohan is a role model back in his hometown of Antwerp, Belgium, where he mentors younger kids at a boarding school and has also been involved in habitat for humanity for the last three years, among many other things.
The annual award handed out from the league office recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition.
This marks the 17th year for the SEC Community Service Team for men's basketball as well as for women's basketball. All 21 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.
