Men's Tennis Drops 4-0 Decision at Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The 62nd-ranked men's tennis team lost, 4-0, Friday to No. 52 Tennessee on Friday at Barksdale Stadium. With the loss, the Crimson Tide stands at 13-13 overall and 2-6 in Southeastern Conference play, while the win brings the Volunteers to 11-8 on the season and 3-4 in the league.
Tennessee earned the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. First to finish was the matchup on court two where Andrew Dromsky and Igor Smelyanski topped Sean Donohue and Stuart Kenyon, 6-3, at the No. 2 position. The Volunteers second-ranked duo of Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese then secured the point for Tennessee, edging out 29th-ranked Korey Lovett and Becker O'Shaughnessey, 6-4, at the top spot.
No. 16 Libietis and No. 88 Lovett met again in singles on court one where the Volunteer senior posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory to give Tennessee a 2-0 lead. From there, the Volunteers posted wins on courts four and two to clinch the team win. The remaining three matches would go unfinished.
Alabama continues its road swing on Sunday when it heads to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats and Morehead State Eagles at Noon CT and 5 p.m. CT, respectively.
