Greetings from the Capstone,
Spring Break is over and school is back in session. The Tide came away with three wins in six matches with a few nail biters - Florida, LSU and Texas A&M - boy those were tough but our skin thickened and so did our focus. Amazingly enough we had a delay with the start of our LSU match due to rain and then played indoors for both Texas A&M and Mercer. Didn't we just have the first day of Spring? Well sunnier skies await and hopefully warmer temps too.
The team had a few off court activities during their "staycation". This included a trip out to Lake Tuscaloosa for a chilly dip in the water, paintball in the Cottondale woods that produced a couple of memorable body marks for Langford & DK and an early afternoon matinee featuring McFarland, USA ... Sam loving the spirit of Danny Diaz.
Now we're off to Knoxville and Lexington for a big road trip which will test our maturing squad and require an "all-in" mentality start to finish. The SEC pretty much mandates this week in and week out as only the tenacious and resilient survive. Timmy the driver is behind the wheel of our sleeper bus that's stocked with plenty of beds for everyone, TVs and Wi-Fi. There was a Super Mario Smash Brothers battle in the back room of the bus on our way up to Rocky Top with Stuart, Becker and Andrew showcasing their Nintendo 64 skills. We didn't get to any movies on the way up but will certainly get the films flowing. A tasty dinner at Cafe 4 started the dinner tour and today we will eat at 5 Bar (no joke).
The weather forecast calls for chilly temps for the Tennessee match - 48 to 50 - so we will see whether or not we play out or in come 2 p.m. ET. for live scoring.
We'll head to the Bluegrass state on Saturday and see how many Kentucky fans are in town vs. at March Madness. Following our 1 p.m. ET match against the Wildcats we will face Morehead State at 5 p.m. before making the long trek home. Wonder if Ashley Judd will make it out to the match? Click here for live scoring for the Kentucky match.
Here's to being ALL-IN and returning to T-Town having played three great matches.
Roll Tide!
George
