Rowing to Compete Against Drake Saturday Morning in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama rowing will compete in its first of back-to-back home regattas this weekend, hosting Drake University for a dual meet on Saturday, March 21. Events on the Black Warrior River are set to kick off at 9 a.m. CT.
The Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs will compete in four races, starting with the 1st Varsity 8. Alabama will have one boat in both the 1st and 2nd Varsity 8s while four Tide boats will compete in the Varsity 4 and two will compete in the Novice 8. Drake will race one boat in each of the four races.
Start times are tentative and are subject to change:
- 9:00 - 1st Varsity 8
- 9:20 - 2nd Varsity
- 9:40 - Varsity 4
- 10:40 - Novice 8
This is the first of back-to-back weeks at home for the Tide, as they will compete next Saturday, March 28 in Tuscaloosa against Jacksonville University starting at 9 a.m. In that meet, Alabama will be celebrating Senior Day as well as the Power of Pink initiative to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
Last weekend, the Tide opened its spring season in Oak Ridge, Tenn., at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational. Alabama competed in three sessions over two days, improving on its time over each session before capping its weekend with a successful finish on Sunday.
