
Gymnastics Ranked Fifth Nationally, Seeded Third in SEC Championships

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Following the conclusion of the regular season last weekend, the Alabama gymnastics team is ranked fifth nationally this week and is seeded third at this Saturday's Southeastern Conference Championships.
The defending league champions, Alabama was also seeded third going into last year's SEC Championships. As the No. 3 seed, Alabama will start the meet on the balance beam and will end on the uneven bars, just as it did in 2014. This year's championship will be held at The Arena at Gwinnett Place in Duluth, Ga.
Oklahoma is ranked No. 1 nationally again this week, while Florida and LSU retain the nation's second and third place rankings, respectively. Utah is fourth, followed by the Tide. Michigan, UCLA, Auburn, Georgia and Nebraska round out the top 10.
At the SEC Championships, Auburn is seeded fourth and will round out the evening session which gets underway at 6 p.m. ET. Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky and Missouri make up the afternoon session, which gets underway at 2 p.m. ET.
Nationally, Alabama is ranked in the top six on all four apparatus, standing third on the floor exercise, fourth on the uneven bars, fifth on the balance beam and sixth on the vault.
After tying her career-best all-around score of 39.650 against Oklahoma, junior Lauren Beers is third nationally in the all-around. Beers is also sixth on the uneven bars and 11th on the floor exercise. Senior Kaitlyn Clark is seventh on the balance beam and 21st on vault. Junior Carley Sims is 22nd on the floor exercise.
