Football Opens Spring Practice on Friday Afternoon

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The football team began spring practice on Friday afternoon with a two hour workout in shorts and helmets in the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility.
The Crimson Tide welcomed eight mid-year enrollees to the practice field including quarterback Blake Barnett, running back DeSherrius Flowers, defensive back Ronnie Harrison, offensive lineman Brandon Kennedy, running back Bo Scarbrough, defensive tackle Jonathan Taylor, defensive back Deionte Thompson and offensive lineman Dallas Warmack.
Alabama also welcomed two new coaches to the staff with outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi and assistant head coach and secondary coach Mel Tucker getting their first look at the 2015 squad.
The Tide returns a total of 12 starters, including two on offense, seven on defense and three on special teams. The UA offense welcomes back a pair of linemen in Ryan Kelly and Cam Robinson, while the defense brings back linemen Jonathan Allen, Jarran Reed and A'Shawn Robinson, linebackers Denzel Devall and Reggie Ragland and defensive backs Eddie Jackson and Cyrus Jones. The Tide also returns place-kicker Adam Griffith, long snapper Cole Mazza and punter JK Scott.
The team will take next week off for spring break and will return to the fields on Monday, March 23 with its second of 15 spring practices.
The 2015 Golden Flake A-Day Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, at 2 p.m. CT inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The A-Day Game is once again free to the public.
